SUSC encourages all members to enjoy swimming as a sport and being part of a successful, happy team of dedicated athletes. SUSC caters for all ages starting from five years and up, competing at Club, Area State and National level.
The Open program's aim, is to give athletes the chance to continue their sporting pursuits while getting an education and to provide the right balance in life, now and for the future.
SUSC is run by a Management Committee elected at the Annual General meeting in September of each year. SUSC has been awarded Gold ‘Go Club’ status from Australian Swimming for club administration for the last two years. In 2009 it was named Australian Club of the year.
Sydney University Swimming Club (SUSC) began in 1998 and was established by Brian Sutton (Olympic Coach).
Sydney University Swim Club runs under the umbrella of Sydney University Sport and trains out of Sydney University Sports and Aquatic Centre.
In 2000 SUSC was awarded Australian Club of the Year, under the guidance of Brain Sutton. SUSC has had numerous Olympian swimmers and Australian Champion including Life Members Elka Graham, Chris Fylder, Brett Hawke, Scott Miller, Phil Rogers, Mathew Dunn, David Cater, and Michelle Englesman. Currently SUSC has world record holder Matt Jaukovic (50m Fly SC), and Australian Champion Matt Abood representing the club.
In 2009 SUSC was awarded Australian Club of the Year and under the talented coaching staff of Steve Alderman and Vanessa Smith who continue to develop a swim team of considerable talent and depth. The objectives of Our Club are: · To provide an effective support framework to maximise the development pathway from beginners to elite swimmers and coaches, and encourage our members to stay involved in our sport for the collective and mutual benefit of members and swimming; · To encourage sportsmanship in competitive swimming and promote performance-enhancing drug free swimming; · To provide leadership, effective and efficient and professional administration and management ensuring continued growth of Sydney University Swimming Club; · To enhance fellowship and camaraderie among Club members by providing social activities for members; · To affiliate to the New South Wales Swimming Association and to abide by the Member Protection Policy and Child Protection and Intervention policy of Australian Swimming (SAL), (as amended from time to time). Affiliation to other kindred bodies may be effected from time to time by the Committee; · To ensure communication at all levels to enable optimal outcomes and at all times to act on behalf of, in the interests of, and in conjunction, with the Members |
